COVID-19 Help & Resources

Our mission: To connect providers and communities to transform lives.

A message from Tim Fischer, Jackson & Coker President : Hope during an uncertain time

There's been a lot on my mind lately, thinking about how I can keep our associates, our families and our communities safe. I'm also thinking about the healthcare heroes like you who are transforming lives during the coronavirus outbreak.

We've asked our base of physicians and advanced practitioners who can raise their hands and answer the call to care during this uncertain time. I was overwhelmed by the replies we got from hundreds of you who offered to step up to help those in need.

In addition to the providers, we’re working with healthcare facilities across the country to get care where it’s needed. The hospital administrators we work with are nothing sort of amazing in their resolve to help their communities.

I’m also encouraged by recent legislation that will help providers connect with patients. This is an important time for telehealth. Medicare has removed rural and site limitations, enabling telehealth services regardless of where the enrollee is located. Many states are loosening restrictions on Medicaid face-to-face meetings, when telehealth or telephonic consultations can be done instead. Private insurers are making telehealth more widely available. Because of these developments, we know we can get more providers to work in telehealth positions.

It’s a scary time, but I believe we have the opportunity now to create a better future. I’m inspired by the strength of our healthcare heroes. It gives me hope for tomorrow and that we will get through this together.

If you or your organization needs help – or if you just need someone to listen – reach out to us. We're here for you and proud to be your partners in transforming patient lives.

- Tim Fischer, President of Jackson & Coker

Top Questions from Healthcare Organizations

What is Jackson & Coker doing to support healthcare organizations during the coronavirus outbreak?

With our commitment to connecting providers and communities to transform lives, we are doing all we can to get physicians and advanced practitioners to the locations who need them most. We are:

  • Actively searching for and recruiting physicians and advanced practitioners who can continue to serve in locum tenens roles in your communities.
  • Creating custom contingency plans for healthcare organizations to prepare for the possibility of providers who can't work or higher patient demand.
  • Quickly setting up telehealth solutions for customers including the platform, staffing and support to get up-to-speed.

Additionally, we can connect you to the entire Jackson Healthcare family of companies. We're partnering with our sister companies to provide a full suite of healthcare staffing solutions. Let us know what you're needing, and we can find the right contact for you.

We are expecting an influx of patients in the coming months - how can we prepare?
  1. Create a plan to bring on additional clinical staff.
  2. Prepare for the possibility that members of your existing staff may get sick, need to quarantine or suddenly be unable to come into work.
  3. Check your telehealth program and technology to make sure it is up-to-date.
  4. Stay in communication with your current patients and make sure they know how to get in touch with you, how to seek care and how to use your telehealth program.

My practice is in a specialty not affected by coronavirus, but we still need clinical coverage. Can you help?

Of course. As one of the nation's leading locum tenens companies, we have an extensive pool of top providers who are ready to serve across all specialties. In addition, we've had providers reach out to us in the past week in specialties ranging from Psychiatry to Podiatry to Pediatrics who are able to serve during this time.

Top Questions from Physicians and APs

Which specialties have the most need right now?

Because there are still patients who are not afflicted by coronavirus - for instance, those with chronic conditions - coverage is needed across all medical specialties right now.

Additionally, we have urgent needs for the following specialties:

  • Geriatrics
  • Internal Medicine
  • Telehealth
  • Critical Care
  • Urgent Care
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Family Medicine
  • Tele-Radiology
  • Pediatrics
Can I serve in a telehealth position?

Yes! Many healthcare facilities are turning to telehealth to connect medical professionals with their patients. At the same time, federal and state governments are loosening restrictions on when and where telehealth consultations take place. Please let us know if you're interested in a telehealth position so you can make a difference from the comfort of your home.

What if I can't travel?

We are getting a surge of requests from facilities that are looking for local physicians and advanced practitioners to provide coverage during this time. You may not have to travel far at all to help those in need.
