A proactive solution to drive expansion, innovation, and stability.

There is a widespread misconception that locum tenens simply serves as a short-term staffing solution for organizations. In reality, it offers valuable opportunities to increase your organization’s potential.

There are countless ways that locums can be implemented as part of a broader workforce strategy, not just a last-minute fix. When locums providers are intentionally integrated, they can help your organization expand services, test new innovations, and provide stability to patient care and your revenue. Whether you want to launch a new service line or you are navigating a complex staffing transition, Jackson and Coker is here to help you plan a proactive staffing future.

Expansion: Scaling Without Overcommitting

Let’s say your facility is considering a new service line, maybe cardiology, GI, or behavioral health. The need is there, but there is hesitation among leadership. Hiring permanent providers before demand is proven could be risky. What if the patient volume is not there? What are the consequences for the overall business?

Your organization may have recently invested in a new location, but the selection of a long-term provider is still underway. It is essential that you proceed with opening the new facility to promote public confidence and demonstrate your ongoing commitment to the community. How can you do this without overstretching your staff?

That is where locum tenens comes in.

Locums can allow your organization to test the demand, workflows, and the overall internal readiness before locking in long-term contracts. It can be a way to move forward without overcommitting.

We understand that it is more complicated than just plugging in a provider to test the validity of the expansion, and we help organizations like yours build a fully functional plan. We provide a curated pool of candidates that match your needs and collaborate with you throughout the process, including credentialing, schedule management, and more.

“Locum tenens gives our clients the opportunity to experience what the market is really like before they must make a risky decision that will impact them long-term.”

– Nikole Tillery, Vice President, Sales Operations

Innovation: Catalyst for Change

What happens when a fresh set of eyes joins your staff.

Locum tenens physicians and advanced practitioners, especially those with experience from different facilities and with different systems, may notice things your permanent staff might overlook.

At Jackson and Coker, we recognize the fresh perspectives locum tenens providers can bring to your organization. By maintaining open and supportive communication with these professionals, we are able to share valuable insights that could benefit your facility.

Health systems have found the root causes of turnover, ways to streamline processes, and even reconsidered how care is delivered, all because a locums provider asked the right questions or flagged a recurring issue. With over 40 years of experience, we know how to help you turn that feedback into action.

Technology innovations that save time and protect revenue.

Digital wallets: Primary source verification via Axuall, a workforce intelligence solution that allows direct access to necessary documentation, can cut down on administrative work and reduce the time it takes for a provider to begin working.

Time tracking tool: Jackson and Coker’s proprietary system helps you maintain accuracy and transparency on your locum tenens provider’s time sheets.

“Locums can do more for facilities than filling gaps. They can spark ideas and bring a perspective that reveals what has been hidden in plain sight.”

– JT Thoms, Account Executive

Stability: Protecting Your People

Every staffing challenge is rooted in real human experiences. Burnout and staff turnover are clear signs that your team is at risk. Locum tenens can offer a way to protect your people and stabilize your business.

Whether it is used to provide relief to a lone cardiologist one week a month or supporting an entire department during a shift in leadership, locum tenens provides continuity without overburdening your permanent team. They are not just filling a shift. They are stabilizing the system.

Jackson and Coker prefers a more strategic approach to locum tenens. Rather than flooding your inbox with CVs, we take time to understand your care needs and your organization’s culture. With this in-depth information, we compile a smaller pool of candidates that closely match your specifications.

“You don’t need 40 candidates. You need the right one.”

– Eric Remshik, Senior Account Executive

Locums for Strategic Growth

Used intentionally, locum tenens physicians and advanced practitioners help healthcare organizations like yours expand services, explore innovations, and stabilize care. However, the real power of locums comes from implementing your unique staffing strategy.

Jackson and Coker doesn’t just help you fill roles. We help you plan, execute, and evolve. Whether you are launching a new service line, opening a new location, navigating a transition, or protecting your team from burnout, we are ready to help you rethink your approach to locums.
